Ritchie Bros. celebrates 20 years in Australia with back-to-back auctions

Hundreds of heavy equipment items and trucks to sell in Brisbane and Geelong in March

BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA (March 2, 2016) – Visit a Ritchie Bros. auction site in Australia, and you'll see the country's flag flying high alongside the company's own. It's been flying that way for 20 years—or 150 truck and equipment auctions—and for Ritchie Bros., that's something to celebrate.

This year, Ritchie Bros. celebrates its 20th year of business in Australia, having begun its time in the country with a single site in Brisbane, Queensland. In 2013, a second permanent site officially opened in Geelong, Victoria. Ritchie Bros. now holds at least eight auctions a year in Australia, with more than 14,000 bidder registrations in 2015.

"I've worked every single Ritchie Bros. auction in Australia," said Warwick Mackrell, Vice President, Ritchie Bros. "We started small and built one customer relationship at a time. Today we serve as a trusted advisor for hundreds of customers across the country and into New Zealand."

One of those customers is Salmon Earthmoving Services, a family business that has become one of the largest heavy equipment rental companies in Australia, since starting in the early 1970s.

"Ritchie Bros. has become our number one source of finding and buying equipment," said Gary Salmon, owner, Salmon Earthmoving Services. "They've become a bit like an extended arm of the industry family. They're very straight-forward and honest. As a buyer, you know that a Ritchie Bros. auction will be unreserved and that you'll have clear title. As a seller, you know your item will be sold that day."

150 auctions and counting: Brisbane & Geelong auctions in March
Ritchie Bros. will also conduct its 150th Australian auction at its Brisbane site in Yatala, QLD on March 15. More than 850 items will be sold, all without minimum bids or reserve prices (rbauction.com/Brisbane).

On March 17, Ritchie Bros. will sell another 800+ items by unreserved auction at its Geelong site in Corio, VIC (rbauction.com/Geelong).
