Retirement brings major equipment auction to Adelaide

Renfrey Plant Hire Services to sell hundreds of items at Ritchie Bros. unreserved auction on 28 April; additional consignments now being accepted

ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA (24 March 2016) – After collapsing during his regular morning swim, Kevin Renfrey realized it was time to retire. He'd been running his company, Renfrey Plant Hire Services, for 42 years on construction, mining, pipeline and other projects across Australia. Having bought and sold through Ritchie Bros. auctions multiple times over the years, Kevin decided there was only one choice when it was time to sell.

"The incident on Glenelg Beach was a huge wake-up call—I knew it was time to make a change," said Kevin Renfrey, Managing Director, Renfrey Plant Hire Services. "We've sold through Ritchie Bros. before, and that experience taught us the value of their services. They are the most professional option for disposal. With their power to attract buyers in Australia and around the world, they have the ability to get the best result."

Ritchie Bros. will conduct the major dispersal for Renfrey Plant Hire Services at its first unreserved public auction in Adelaide in seven years. The auction will be held on 28 April 2016, and already features more than 250 equipment items, including a large selection of hydraulic excavators, motor graders, wheel loaders, dozers, articulated dump trucks, and more. Consignments are now being accepted from other companies.

"We are happy to be able to help such a well-respected Australian company and are looking to add more equipment to the sale from other contractors in the region," said Finlay Massey, Regional Sales Manager, Ritchie Bros. "This is our first auction in Adelaide since 2009, and we're glad to be back. This is a great opportunity for local companies to sell their equipment to an audience of global buyers. Our auctions in Brisbane and Geelong last week attracted close to 3,600 total bidder registrations from 43 countries."

Established in 1974, Renfrey Plant Hire Services is based in Wingfield, South Australia and has worked on major projects all across the country. The company is a National Code Compliant hire provider of heavy earthmoving equipment and skilled operators. Kevin Renfrey and his business are recognised across Australia for their contribution to the industry.
